Sell Digital Products With Ease Using Sendowl

Sell Digital Products With Ease using Sendowl – Creative Process Collective

No matter what website platform you run your site on, sometimes it just doesn’t have the exact little features you’d love it to have. This is where specialist third-party tools can come in handy, allowing you to cherry pick and integrate that tool into your site to get the perfect features.

One such issue I have had pop up is the selling of digital products on Squarespace. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE Squarespace and love a lot of the built-in ecommerce features. Heck, I love it so much I am an affiliate, so if you are feeling cheeky:

*Use code PARTNER10 to get 10% off your Squarespace subscription when signing up

However, when it comes to selling digital products specifically, it does have a few challenges and missing features that I did not want to compromise on:

Digital download links expire within 24 hours

This immediately jumped out to me – if my customers don’t download their product immediately, their link may expire and they won’t be able to access their purchase. Which means more support and admin needed from my end and I am ALL about cutting down on this where possible.

Digital download files aren’t included in Customer Accounts

Annoying right. While Squarespace has introduced customer accounts recently, digi downloads are not available in the account management system. They can see their purchase and invoice, but can’t download it. Cue more support emails from frustrated users.

Which is why I wanted to find some online tool or platform I could integrate into my site (as I still love my SS site as a whole) to fix the above issues. This is when I found *Sendowl!

Sendowl settings dashboard – Creative Process Collective

*Sendowl takes care of all the boring stuff that helps you sell your digital products, like integrating with your payment processor, providing a streamlined checkout and secure product delivery, as well as giving you the tools to boost your revenue with features such as 1-click upsells and mobile-optimised checkout. You can literally add your products in seconds, add the buy now to your already designed website and voila! start selling in minutes.

The big pros for using *Sendowl have been:

Absolute ease of use and customisation

What turns me off a third-party tool instantly is a clunky user experience or too many steps. *Sendowl has a super simple dashboard for adding products, features are easy to find and implement and it’s been a breeze to customise.

Link direct to Dropbox (or any external link)

This was a biggy for me. Because a lot of the templates and resources I sell are quite large in file size, I’ve always had to create a text or PDF file with a link to Dropbox folder and upload that. It’s a bit of double handling and just one more step I needed to take on other ecommerce sites like Etsy or Creative Market. *Sendowl allows you to add upload a file OR link directly to a site like Dropbox, making it more flexible depending on where/how you want people to access your files. Such a time saver!

User Accounts with lifetime access to all downloads purchased

Another massive win! *Sendowl customer accounts allow customers to access their digital downloads for life, meaning less support emails and more confidence to the customer that they can access and download their purchase whenever they want.

Update notifications

This feature has been on my wishlist FOREVER. Sometimes you create a template or resource and begin to sell it, only to find a link isn’t working or a font wasn’t included. Or you just want to be nice and add a cool bonus to their purchase. Usually this means manually emailing each customer letting them know what’s happened and then sending them links to the updated resource – ANNOYING! *Sendowl has this covered. If you update an existing product in SendOwl, you can choose to email previous buyers to tell them about the update – they can then download for free. And you don’t get charged for the extra download.

Other cool, note-worthy features:

  • Edit order emails
You can change the style and content of any email that is sent out to your customers, meaning that your buyers have a seamless shopping experience.

  • Reinforce your branding
Everything your customer sees can be matched to your brand, meaning that customers keep faith with your company and aren't distracted by inconsistencies.

  • Custom checkout fields

If you need extra information from your customers during checkout – perhaps information about what size or shape of product they want or what their telephone number is – *Sendowl has you covered.

So, what does it cost?

Great question! Always the first thing I check because let’s be real, third-party tool subscriptions and fees can stack up quick. So, the cool thing about *Sendowl is here are no transaction fees, just a flat monthly fee. Your payment gateway may charge a transaction fee each time you receive a payment, but otherwise you just pay a monthly flat fee, easy! I’m currently on the $15 a month plan and it seems to be just perfect for my needs, and if I ever want to upgrade for more features, the next pricing tiers are definitely affordable.

And that’s why I integrated Sendowl with my Squarespace website!

It really has been a match made in heaven. My SS site does all the heavy lifting in terms of presenting my content and being visually appealing, and *Sendowl takes care of my digital product ecommerce needs. Super simple, easy to use and I feel confidence *Sendowl has definitely streamlined this particular creative process!
